Tierra Binion, 25, was fighting with Rachel DeRise, 23, at Mugs & Jugs bar and drive-through in Pensacola on Wednesday, Aug. 23, WEAR News reports citing the Escambia County Sheriff's Office.
The two were "mutually combative," but the fight went from inside the bar to the parking lot, where DeRise's boyfriend, Christian Ketchup, punched Binion — knocking her out cold, the outlet said. Ketchup and DeRise are accused of beating Binion, of Virginia Beach, as she lay unconscious on the ground before Ketchup shot her seven times.
On Thursday, Aug. 24, the sheriff's office announced DeRise and Ketchup's arrests: DeRise was charged with battery while Ketchup was charged with homicide.
Mugs & Jugs released a statement regarding the incident that reads, in part:
"We understand that this is a difficult time for the family of Tierra Binion and an immense loss for the Pensacola community. We also sympathize with concerned citizens who feel the need to express their anger and frustration with the situation.
"At this time we ask that these individuals refrain from any aggressive action or harassment of our employees. We ask for the patience of the community as we continue to work with local law enforcement on our next steps."
Meanwhile, Tierra leaves behind twin boys Jovanni and Jakarri, according to a GoFundMe page launched for her funeral.
"If anyone knows Tierra they know she was the LIFE of the party," the page reads. "She could make anyone laugh and smile. She had a pure heart, with nothing but love to give."
